Another season ends and what better way to finish it, then with the biggest tour of the season?! Erwin from Frozen Lines and I decided to go up the GrossVenediger (3660m). We started out in the pouring rain on a mountainbike to make the long approach a bit faster. After hours of biking, hiking and skinning, through rain, snow and mist, we found the hut and we were the only ones there. A surprised hut keeper welcomed us: splitboarders? We don’t see too many of them up here…
The next morning we woke up to a clear sky, a fresh layer of snow and a lonely mountain. Skinning up at first light, crossing glaciers and ridges, we made it to the top and enjoyed a magnificent view and perfect conditions. Time to ride, hike and bike down. After 2 days, 3100m of elevation change and about 40km, we were back at the car, tired, fulfilled and covered in mud, what a trip!
